čistota klietky
1-Aj váš škrečok si určite robí zásoby.U niektorých škrečuľkov je zvykom,že si značia voje zásoby močom,preto by ste ich svojmu škrečkovi mali raz za čas kontrolovaťči si ich neomočil.Na označkovaných zásobách by sa totiž mohli usadiť plesne.
2-Každé dva dni odstraňujte časti podstielky,do ktorých si zvykne škrečok močiť.
3-Každý týždeň sa musí čistiť tá špinavšia časť klietky.Pri čistení však nechajte polovicu označkovanú aby škrečkova klietka nestratila aspoň zčasti svoj pach.
4-Raz za mesiac treba celú klietku vyčistiť horúcou vodou,ale nikdy nie akýmkoľvek čistiacim prostriedkom! Tiež treba kompletne vymeniť podstielku.Kým budete klietku čistiť škrečka môžete umiestniť do prepravky.
POZOR! Ak čistíte vybavenie klietky,predtým,než ho vložíte späť,musí byť úplne suché,aby sa tam neusadili zárodky chorôb!

Starostlivosť o škrečky
Škrečky nie sú veľmi náročné na starostlivosť. No napriek tomu sa im treba venovať. Na bývanie je najvhodnejšia asi klietka s plastovým dnom. Nemala by však mať veľké rozostupy medzi mrežami, hlavne ak chováte menšie druhy škrečkov (ako malé, sú ešte menšie než sa v skutočnosti zdajú, pretože majú hrubú srsť a preto môžu preliezť aj cez malilinké škáročky). Umiestnenie klietky by malo zodpovedať niekoľkým zásadám:
- škrečok potrebuje kľud, aby mohol nerušene spať
- aj keď sú škrečky púštne zvieratá, zle znášajú slnko alebo jasné svetlo. Preto klietku nikdy nedávajte na priame slnko.
- škodí im tiež prievan, keďže pri ňom môže váš miláčik veľmi ľahko nachladnúť
- treba dbať aj na ideálnu teplotu a vlhkosť vzduchu. Vyhovujúca je izbová teplota je20 až 22°C a vlhkosť vzduchu od 40 do 50 %
- dym z cigariet neprospieva nikomu a zvlášť nie takému malému tvorovi, preto prosím od neho škrečka ušetrite.
Správne zaobchádzanie so škrečkom
Ako si vášho škrečka donesiete domov a dáte ho do klietky, nemyslite si že vám bude hneď po pár minútach behať po rukách (sú síce aj výnimky, ale nie je veľa škrečkov, ktoré ešte ani poriadne prvýkrát nevlezú do klietky a už vám natešene behajú po rukách :o)). Keďže bude zrejme vyplašený z cesty, mali by ste mu dať čas aby si zvykol najskôr na svoj nový domov a potom na vás. Je dobre ak mu z predajne zoberiete trochu jeho pilín a v jeho novej klietke mu ich nasypali do domčeka. Ak ich máte viac, môžete mu ich porozsýpať aj po nových pilinách. Po uplynutí jedného až dvoch týždňov ( u každého škrečka je však táto doba iná- podaktorí si zvyknú hneď, iní po týždni či po dvoch a môže sa stať že veľmi vyplašené alebo odolné :o) škrečky sa podvolia až po niekoľkých týždňoch- túto dobu treba však škrečkovi tolerovať a o to viac by vám mal potom dôverovať) môžete začať s ,,navykacím programom". Škrečka najľahšie navyknete na vašu ruku pomocou maškrtiek. Keďže väčšina škrečkov si bude chcieť maškrtku zobrať a odniesť do bezpečia, musíte ju dosť silno držať palcom a ukazovákom, aby vám ju nevytrhol. Takto si najlepšie zvykne že mu od človeka nič nehroz
Kúpanie škrečka
Zrejme sa už stalo, že bol váš miláčik špinavý alebo bol trochu viac „cítiť“ a tak ste si povedali, že ho okúpete, keď už on sám sa do toho umývania nejako nemá. Ale môže sa vlastne škrečok kúpať? To je asi druhá otázka, ktorú ste si zároveň položili. A odpoveď je- áno. No môže sa veľa vecí, ale nie všetky sú aj správne.
Takže aby som bola presnejšia, škrečok sa síce kúpať smie, no nie je to preňho veľmi dobré a to z niekoľkých dôvodov. Za prvé môže prechladnúť, či už z toho, že je teplota vody zlá, alebo ste ho dali mokrého do klietky/akvária. Tiež väčšina škrečkov vodu nemá práve v láske. Piť ju v malých kvapkách- to je v poriadku. No byť v nej namočený celý...
Ak sa niekto spýta, či škrečky vedia plávať, tak áno. Nemusíte sa o tom presviedčať sami, ak to nie je nevyhnutné. Plávajú ako malinké psy- kmitajú packami (Je predsa logické, že nebudú plávať kraula, že : )?). No snažia sa dostať čo najrýchlejšie z vody von. Preto ak dáte škrečka do umývadla, budú to preňho len ďalšie stresy, že sa nemôže dostať preč, lebo sa mu šmýkajú labky.
No keď to je už nutné, že je škrečok naozaj špinavý, je dobré zobrať nejakú väčšiu nádobu a napustiť ju vlažnou vodou tak, nech nemusí plávať (nie je to práve ich najobľúbenejší šport). Nechajte škrečka chvíľku behať v nádobe, no treba dať pozor, aby neušiel. Potom ho opatrne osušte nejakou čistou handričkou, chvíľu nechajte behať v rukách a keď bude suchý, môže ísť naspäť do domčeka. V žiadnom prípade nepoužívajte na umývanie šampón, či mydlo!
Niečo iné samozrejme je, ak váš škrečok ochorie a zverolekár mu „predpíše“ nejaké kúpele. To mu viac pomôže ako ublíži. Tými kúpeľmi ale myslím nejaké harmančekové alebo iné, ktoré odporučí veterinár.
Pravidelná starostlivosť
Denné práce
-každý deň dávajte škrečkovi čerstvé jedlo. Nedávajte ho však viac ako sám zje a dávajte mu ho vždy v rovnaký čas.
-skontrolujte kúty a vymeňte hobliny za čisté.
-denne mu dávajte šťavnatú potravu a nejakú tú maškrtku.
-zosušenú zeleninu a ovocie odstráňte.
-denne sa mu prihovárajte a hrajte sa s ním, aby na vás tak ľahko nezabudol :o) (samozrejme len keď je hore)
Týždenné práce
-každý týždeň mu vymieňajte vodu a napájačku vyčistite.
- čistite klietku (vymeňte podstielku, domček opláchnite teplou vodou, umyte koliesko na behanie...)
-vymeňte vetvičky na obhrýzanie a lezenie alebo ich opláchnite teplou vodou
Mesačné práce
-stačí len keď mu raz za mesiac spravíte ,,generálku" jeho klietky, čiže ju celú vysprchujte horúcou vodou a poutierajte + výmena pilín, ...
